Awami League General Secretary Abdul Jalil on Friday accused the government of resorting to falsehood about the postponement of the SAARC Summit “to save the killers” of Awami League leader Shah AMS Kibria. “The alliance government is utilizing the postponement of the SAARC Summit for political propaganda and gave statements devoid of political courtesy involving Awami League to create confusion in public mind,” he told a press briefing at the party’s Dhanmondi office in the city. Jalil said: “Our movement is not against SAARC, but against this killer government… to free the people from the misrule of the government.”
The government has been accusing the opposition Awami League for causing the postponement of the SAARC meeting by raising hue and cry on law and order situation in Bangladesh.
