Professor Kabir Chowdhury , a prominent intellectual in Bangladesh , in an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla Service , has said that the religious extremists in Bangladesh are trying to destroy the values of democracy and the freedom in the country. He was commenting on a recent comment by an extremist muslim group in Bangladesh who have termed Dr Kamal Hossain as a Murtad ( a person who has forgone his religioon) and they have threatened him. Professor Chowdhury was also declared Murtad by these groups of people.
Although threatened , Professor Chowdhury says he is ready to die for the principles he stands for and on the basis of these principles of secularism and democracy Bangladesh achieved her freedom
