Bangladeshi Commerce Minister Altaf Hossain Chowdhury says his country is keen on increasing trade with India and reducing the trade imbalance that is in India's favor.
Mr. Chowdhury made the remark in New Delhi, where he met with his Indian counterpart, Kamal Nath, on Wednesday.
Mr. Chowdhury told reporters relations between the two neighbors are "very close."
He said he also had a "very fruitful" meeting with Mr. Nath recently at Sao Paolo in Brazil on the sidelines of the UNCTAD conference.
The Bangladeshi minister said Mr. Nath has a deep interest in developing healthy trade relations with India's neighbors.
While in New Delhi, Mr. Chowdhury also inaugurated the Bangladesh pavilion at the ongoing India International Trade Fair.
