US: Fallujah Strike Kills Zarqawi Associate - 2004-10-26

The U.S. military says it has killed an associate of wanted terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in an airstrike launched after a wave of violence left 11 people dead Monday.

The U.S. military says it hit a safehouse used by the Zarqawi terror network in Fallujah. It says multiple sources reported that the known associate was in the building when it was hit.

On Monday, Zarqawi terrorists claimed responsibility for a car bomb attack aimed at an Australian convoy in Baghdad that killed three Iraqis. Australia says it was the first direct attack on its vehicles in Iraq.

Separate blasts in the capital killed an American and and Estonian soldier. In Mosul, explosions killed three Iraqis. And in Ramadi, three people were killed in fighting between insurgents and U.S. troops.
