At Least Six Dead in US Airstrike on Suspected Iraq Terrorist Hideout - 2004-07-01

An overnight U.S. airstrike on a suspected terrorist hideout has killed at least six people in the Iraqi town of Fallujah.

Hospital sources say at least 15 others were wounded.

Hours later, a U.S. soldier was killed and two were wounded in a bomb blast near a troop convoy south of Mosul. A U.S. Marine was also killed in action in Anbar province, west of Baghdad.

In Baghdad, a senior Finance Ministry official was seriously wounded and two body guards were killed by a bomb planted on a vehicle in their convoy.

In another Baghdad district, a roadside blast near a U.S military convoy killed or wounded several by-standers.
