A High Court judge in Bangladesh has been fired for taking a bribe.
A spokesman for the Law Ministry told journalists in Dhaka on Tuesday, Bangladeshi President Iajuddin Ahmed ordered the removal of Justice Syed Shahidur Rahman on recommendation of a judicial council.
The move follows an allegation that the judge had taken money from a man on trial after promising to get him freed on bail.
It is the first time a judge has been removed from office in Bangladesh
