Call-in Show on  SAARC & SAFTA - 2004-01-14

Since SAARC was established nearly a couple of decades ago, this was the first time in its 12th Summit that a resolution to establish a free trade zone amongst SAARC countries was adopted . This marks , perhaps, the beginning of a new era where economic prospects have got priorities over the bi-lateral political disputes which have so far marred the desired progress of this South Asian Organization. Can this progress help resolving the political disputes as well and how far the SAFTA can take the South Asians in terms of their aspirations for living not only in prosperity but also in peace. Our guests , in this edition, are Professor Mustafizur Rahman of Dhaka University who is also the Research Director of Center for Policy Dialogue and Moazzem Hossain , Editor of The Financial Express in Dhaka.
