Dr.
Syed Anwar Husain is an eminent scholar in Bangladesh who takes keen interest
in History as well as on Bengali language and Literature. He is the Professor
of History in Dhaka University , the former Director General of Bangla Academy
and the President of Bangladesh Itihash Samity ( Bangladesh History Society) .
In this exclusive interview with VOA Bangla , Professor Husain talks about the
privilege and the challenges of history. He defines and describes history
and deplores the distortion of history, particularly the history of the
Liberation War of Bangladesh. He says a historian ought to remain honest to his
own conscience bring out historical facts in the most objective manner.
Professor Husain is pained to see bad languages being used indiscriminately and
urges upon the scholars of Bengali language to come up and correct the errors
in the language . He also mentions his future plans in the field of research
all of which intends to bring history to the doorstep of an average common man.
