A Bangladeshi Journalist speaks to VOA

Jamaluddin a senior reporter from the Daily Ittefaq from Bangladesh is on a tour to USA on an invitation from the US State Department. He is participating in Edward Morrow Journalism Program.

In an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla Service, Jamaluddin says that because of the emergency in Bangladesh some restrictions have been imposed on newspapers. Particularly the newspapers in Bangladesh are strictly forbidden to publish criticism of the government either in the form of a write up, photography or cartoon.

But he also thinks there has no restrictions on publishing other types of reports. He also adds that there has no incident of any kinds of imposition of censorship by the government on his newspaper.
