State-run international carrier Air-India launched a new thrice-weekly direct flight from Kolkata to London effective today, Saturday.
West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee, who had been urging the Central government to introduce international flights from Kolkata, expressed happiness at the launch of the new service.
According to a statement issued by Air-India the flight, will be operated on the Delhi-Dhaka-Kolkata-London route on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and will also provide connectivity between Delhi-Dhaka, Dhaka-Kolkata and Dhaka-London. Paramasish Ghosh Roy has more details.
