President Bush in the Netherlands to Honor Allied Troops

President Bush is in the Netherlands to honor Allied troops who fought Nazi Germany in World War Two.

The president arrived today, Saturday, from Latvia. Sunday he will join Dutch Queen Beatrix laying a wreath at the American cemetery in Margraten.

Earlier today in Riga, Mr. Bush commended the Baltic countries for their progress in democracy since regaining independence from Soviet rule in 1991.

He said the Soviet domination of Central and Eastern Europe after World War Two will be remembered as what he called "one of the greatest wrongs in history."

He also said the 1945 agreement in Yalta involving American, British and Soviet leaders followed in the "unjust tradition of Munich and the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact" (moves that paved the way for the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia and the Soviet occupation of the Baltics).

Mr. Bush will be in Moscow Monday for ceremonies marking the 60th anniversary of the end of World War Two in Europe. He also visits Georgia.
