A seminar titled “ The Future of Democracy in Bangladesh “ was held in Washington under the auspices of the Heritage Foundations. Distinguished speakers which included present and foreign diplomats while praising Bangladesh for its remarkable achievements in many aspects , expressed its deep concern about the rise of the Islamists in that moderate country. The speakers said that holding a fair and free election and protecting democratic values and norms are big challenges which Bangladesh is facing. The speakers included Harry K Thomas , the US Ambassador in Bangladesh, Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury, Bangladeshi Ambassador in the US, Mr William B Milam, a senior polivy research scholar at Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington DC and others.
