Rice Concludes Asian Tour

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice has concluded an eight-day tour of Asia that included discussions about nuclear arms, U.S. beef imports and Taiwan.

Ms. Rice left Beijing Monday after talks with Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao, in which the two leaders discussed bilateral relations, economic affairs, and Taiwan. She told him the United States adheres to its one-China policy recognizing Beijing as the sole Chinese government, but that Beijing's new anti-secession law is not helpful in reducing tensions with Taiwan.

While in China Ms. Rice also called for greater religious freedom, after attending a state-approved Christian church on Sunday. Earlier in her trip, she called on Japan to end its ban on U.S. beef imports and said North Korea should return to talks on its nuclear weapons program.
