4 Killed, 2 Wounded in Kashmir Grenade Attack

Police in Indian Kashmir say suspected Islamic militants have thrown grenades at a house in a remote village, killing a woman and three children and wounding two other family members. Police say the attack took place in Doda district, south of Srinagar.

Some sources say the militants stormed the house of a Muslim man after he refused to open the door. The motive for the attack is not clear, but militants often attack police informants or villagers who refuse to shelter them.

Meanwhile, an Indian military court in Srinagar has found an army officer innocent of raping a Kashmiri woman and her 10-year-old daughter in November 2004, but found him guilty of other charges. The court ordered the officer to be dismissed from service.
