SAARC leaders likely to address tsunami issue

The SARRC leaders attending the 13th Summit in Dhaka are likely to address the recent tsunami that wrought havoc to at least three member countries and inflicted heavy casualties.

Talking to newsmen at his office Sunday afternoon, foreign minister M. Morshed Khan said that Bangladesh, being one of the most disaster prone countries in South Asia, is also sensitive to this issue.

Referring to tsunami, he said this has posed a new challenge to the member states and the leaders would address the issue seriously. He said that as per expert reports there have been changes in the seabed following the tsunami, which might affect the region.
