Husband of Former Pakistan PM again Released on Bail

The husband of Pakistan's former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto is again free on bail -- a day after he was arrested for failing to attend a court hearing in a murder case. In a telephone interview today (Wednesday) with VOA, Asif Ali Zardari accused Pakistan's government of victimizing political opponents and discouraging pro-democracy campaigns. The political opposition figure says democratic forces should continue to press Pakistan's military establishment for political reforms. Mr. Zardari was arrested on Tuesday at Islamabad airport after he arrived to address an opposition rally. He was flown back to Karachi and placed under house arrest. Mr. Zardari was freed on bail last month after spending eight years in jail awaiting trial on charges including corruption, murder and drug smuggling. He and his supporters say the charges are politically motivated.
