Microsoft, the world's largest software company, says it will hire hundreds of new employees at a large new facility in Hyderabad, India.
At an opening ceremony in Hyderabad, Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer called the work "high level, creative engineering."
India's highly-educated, low-cost, English-speaking workforce is attracting a growing number of multi-national companies and has helped create a software services industry.
The Microsoft chief also met with executives in Bangalore, where he and officials of Infosys Technologies announced an $8 million project intended to help companies reduce technology costs.
