At least 22 laborers were wounded in a police attack Wednesday afternoon at the Crescent Jute Mills area under the Khalishpur police station in the Khulna city.
The police opened blank shots, used rubber bullets and lobbed tear shells on the laborers after their daylong demonstration.The laborers were agitating to press home their demands and at one stage locked up the mill officials. The demands include payment of arrear dues, bonus, medical allowance, and gratuity before Eid.
