A general strike has shut down shops, schools and businesses across Bangladesh for the fourth time in a week, Monday, at the urging of the country's main opposition party, Awami League.
The Awami League called the strike to protest a deadly grenade attack that killed 20 people at a party rally nine days ago.
The shutdown passed off without major incidents of violence in heavily-guarded capital Dhaka and coincided with a countrywide programme of the ruling BNP-led four-party alliance in protest against the August 21 deadly grenade attack.
