The head of US Central Command says Syria is still not doing enough to stop foreign militants from crossing its border into Iraq. General John Abizaid met with US lawmakers in Washington Wednesday, days after the army declared its operation against insurgents near the border a success. Syria has said it is doing all it can to stop militants from slipping into Iraq.
Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, who also met with members of Congress Wednesday, said the moderates -- not extremists -- are prevailing in Iraq, the Palestinian territories, and Afghanistan.
