The death toll from the collapse of Bangladeshi garment factory climbed to at least 69 on Sunday after rescue workers found nine more bodies under the rubble.
Officials say the collapse Monday in Palashbari, northwest of Dhaka, was likely caused by a boiler explosion. About 96 more bodes are thought to remain under the mountain of bricks and concrete slabs. Officials say there is little hope of finding anyone alive. Hundreds of grieving relatives, many holding photographs of their missing loved ones, crowded the site as police brought in additional coffins in case more bodies are found. Some of the corpses could be identified only by their clothes and other personal effects. Local officials launched an investigation after it emerged that the factory was built on marshland without planning permission.
