Dr. Nazli Kibria, Associate Professor of Sociology at Boston University spoke to VOA about her father, SAMS Kibria's assassination in Bangladesh. The former finance minister was killed in a grenade attack in Habiganj in Bangladesh.
Dr. Kibria accuses the government of gross negligence. She alleges that though the family desperately tried to contact several government agencies to get a helicopter to transport the seriously wounded Mr. Kibria to Dhaka, the government failed to respond.
Dr. Kibria also said that as a sociologist she notices a distinct pattern in the killings. She said people in Bangladesh are beginning to realize that violence and terror cannot rule the nation.
