The South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation, SAARC summit, which was scheduled to take place in Dhaka later this week, has been postponed indefinitely for the second time with India pulling out of it citing the political developments in Nepal and security situation in Bangladesh.
Reacting strongly to India's decision not to attend the SAARC Summit, host Bangladesh today termed it as "unwarranted and unexpected" and rejected as "unacceptable" New Delhi's security concerns. "It is regretted that once again a SAARC Summit has been postponed at the last moment because of a decision by the government of India," Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Morshed Khan said in a press briefing.
Pakistan, chairman of the seven-nation SAARC made the announcement of postponement and criticized India for its decision.
